Why Quality Over Quantity Matters in Real Estate Photography for Small Properties.

Recently, I relocated to Rockhampton, Queensland, and noticed a trend in local real estate listings: overloading small property listings with too many images. While showcasing a home is key, smaller properties, especially those with just a few rooms, don’t benefit from 20+ images. Instead, these listings often show multiple angles of the same spaces, which dilutes the appeal and purpose of real estate photography.

Effective real estate photography should generate interest and emotion, not just document every corner. Especially for smaller properties, fewer, well-composed images can be far more impactful, creating a desire for buyers to see more in person. Typically, 8-10 well-chosen shots for a compact home are enough to motivate a buyer to make contact.

A good photograph is about composition, which is far more  important than taking numerous shots from different angles.  Strong composition draws viewers in, even when lighting or focus might not be perfect. Real estate marketers often forget this, thinking quantity will impress, but it’s the emotional pull of each image that inspires action.

Composition in Realty Images matters

In a competitive market, it’s easy to sell, but when conditions tighten, quality photography truly makes the difference.
